Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Shane Edwards Plumbing ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use and look after your personal information when you visit our website, book a job or get in touch with us. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What information we collect

We only collect the information we need to quote, book and carry out your plumbing and gas work. This may include:

  • your name, phone number and email address
  • the address where the work is to be done
  • details about the job, including any photos you send us
  • billing and payment records for work we have completed

How we collect it

  • When you contact us by phone or email.
  • When you book online using our "Book Online" button. Bookings are handled by ServiceM8, our job management provider, and the details you enter are sent to us through their system.
  • When you browse our website. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are viewed). This uses cookies and collects general information such as your browser type and approximate location. IP addresses are anonymised. Our contact section also includes an embedded Google Map, which may set its own cookies.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and provide quotes
  • schedule and carry out work
  • send invoices and receive payment
  • meet our legal and regulatory obligations, such as plumbing compliance certificates
  • improve our website and services

We will never sell or rent your personal information, and we won't send you marketing without your permission.

Who we share it with

We only share your information where needed to do the job, for example with:

  • service providers that help us run the business, such as ServiceM8 (job management and bookings), our accounting software and Google (website analytics and maps)
  • the Victorian Building Authority or other regulators, where the law requires it

Some of these providers may store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose reputable providers who take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The website will still work, although some features such as the embedded map may not display correctly. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep information only for as long as we need it, including any period required by law, and then securely delete or destroy it.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. Just contact us using the details below.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first and we'll do our best to sort it out. If you're not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
